Andrew Karlyn, Founder and Principal Consultant
As a seasoned strategy consultant based in Washington, DC, Andrew leads product strategy and design for organizational transformation across the non-profit and government services sectors. He specializes in digital health, agriculture, and financial inclusion, supporting clients such as the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, eHealth Africa, CARE, PSI, and others to adopt digitalization and organizational change to thrive in a competitive global context.
Andrew frequently serves as a consultant product owner and liaison, championing and coordinating diverse teams of strategists, designers, researchers, and engineers to deliver client-centered solutions. He has helped bring multiple open-source products to market for government and non-profit clients, including:
- Electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance & Response (eIDSR) systems in Nigeria and Sierra Leone with eHealth Africa
- Chat-based self-assessment tool with Living Goods and Google Health in Kenya
- COVID-19 symptom checker and referral tool in Bangladesh
Andrew brings deep technical experience in design, development, and public-private partnerships for social impact across multiple sectors. He is a passionate advocate for making markets work for the poor through social marketing, social impact investment, and business strategy consulting. His expertise in behavioral science ranges from technical assistance and capacity building to research, policy analysis, advocacy, program design, data analytics, and impact evaluations.
With extensive field experience in over ten countries across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, Andrew is skilled in conducting ethnographic analysis, human-centered design, and participatory methods to deliver strategic insights and design for emerging technologies in Africa, including digital health systems contributing to the public good.
Andrew holds a PhD in Public Health Demography from the University of London (LSHTM) and an MSc in Anthropology and BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
